A quick google search turned up this picture, from a thread on this here forum. You can't really see the bracket that clamps to the U-shaped cross bar, but you can see the ball-socket connector that pops off, and plops onto the fixed ball just in front of the ballast handle.

What am I missing.
I have a 97 X with the original brackets (plus a spare set). And they seem to work ok. What am I missing out on?

I was thinking the same thing. Kinda like a Seward 42. I still have the original aluminum rudder brackets that I know will need to be replaced.

My boat came with the quick disconnect linkage, but it doesn't have the mount for fixing the engine straight. I don't see it as a sepparate item on the BWY website. Does anyone know if they will sell it sepparate?
Jeff
I don;t seem to find this quick disconnect for

. I will look again.

We installed an etec 90 with a 5.5" setback from the transom. Therefore, the standard BWY setup wouldn't work. I wound up purchasing these
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TT ... UTF8&psc=1 quick disconnects made by Panther Marine (PN 55-5200). They look just like what BWY supplies with their kit. Please note these are only rated for "up to 25 horse-power".
