Which breed/type of pet tastes best BBQ'd and do you marinate it before, or during the cooking?RobertB wrote:I support going to a pet friendly marina - but if we do, and we go out to dinner, someone will need to stay behind and mind the furry kids. A barbeque at the marina would solve this.
All said, pets or not is not a deal breaker on participating again.

I vote for wiener dogs - although the rabbit I ran over last night could work. If anyone is more into asian cuisine, I could offer up a cat or two
My brother in law used to be a health inspector for Montgomery County, MD. He made sure to check the trash cans of the asian restaurants for cat carcases (for good reason).

Re: MUCK-About Sail
The 2nd annual MUCK-About (McGregor Upper Chesapeake Kick-About) is just less then 6 months away. Scheduled to start from Sandy Point State Park on Friday July 12th, 2013. The same route as last year. For those that are new to the MUCKA I have tried to condense most of the information about this fun weekend into the first post.
I took advantage of our 50’F January day and road my motorcycle 85 miles across the Bay to do some reconnaissance in Rock Hall. Since there was interest in a pet friendly marina I checked out the Sail Emporium Marina (SEM) at Rock Hall.
I know we all had a really good time and enjoyed the facilities at North Point Marina across the cove last year but lets give the Sail Emporium a try this year for those with furry family members, no I’m not talking about uncle Joey.
SEM amenities include: deep water slips $2.00/Ft, electric $8.00, pet friendly, showers, pool, picnic & barbecue area, complimentary coffee, tea & pastries, gift shop, full service marina & parts.

Yes, I'm interested. I have two K9 crew, but they are not critical to come if a non pet friendly venue is chosen.

Luna Sea is in (the East Coast version
)
If canines welcome, we will bring the entertainment (after you meet my two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, you will understand). Will also try to bring some of the sons as crew.

Re: MUCK-About Sail
Luna Sea (West) is tentatively in!
We've been talking about dragging the boat across country for months now, and we've also wanted to take the kids to DC and do the "American History Tour". I also want to spend enough time at the Smithsonian to actually see it. We have some commitments in Salt Lake in August as well, which we would normally drive out for.The only issue is that our boy scout has scout camp until July 12th, but we can just fly him out when he's done on the 13th.
So the tentative plan would be:
Monday July 8th: San Diego CA to El Paso TX
Tuesday July 9th: El Paso TX to Dallas TX
Wednesday July 10th: Dallas TX to Nashville TN
Thursday July 11th: Nashville TN to Annapolis, MD
July 12th..14th: MUCKABOUT Sail
July 15th..Washington DC monuments
July 16th..18th: Smithsonian
July 19th: Philadelphia PA
July 20th..22nd: New York, NY
July 23rd: New York, NY to Annapolis MD
July 24th: Annapolis, MD, to Chicago, IL
July 25th: Chicago, IL to Lexington, NE (i.e., middle of nowhere)
July 26th: Lexington, NE to Salt Lake City, UT
July 27th..August 2nd: Visit with friends and family (we're both from SLC)
August 3rd: Admiral's 20 year reunion & Grandmother's 90th B-Day
August 4th: SLC, UT to San Diego CA
We would need to figure out the following:
1. Marina + Truck and Trailer storage in Annapolis MD, July 11th through 18th. We'd like to stay aboard the boat while we're in DC.
2. Boat + Trailer storage in the Chesapeake area July 19th..24th. None of the Marinas in San Diego actually provide this, so I'm not sure how it would be done in VA/MD
3. Boat + Trailer storage in Salt Lake City July 26th through August 4th. This one I have resources for.
Anything particularly naive about this plan? I'll have the trailer serviced before we leave.

Re: MUCK-About Sail
That would be awesome - we may need to add something to the boat names to avoid confusion; something like Fast Blue Luna Sea and Not as Fast White Luna Seamastreb wrote:Luna Sea (West) is tentatively in!

As far a the boat in Annapolis, plenty of options. The truck and trailer can be a bit more interesting.
In general, marinas in Annapolis do not have room for transient trailers.
A good option is to launch out of Sandy Point State Park, a huge protected facility just north of Annapolis, and leave the truck and trailer there. This is OK as long as the truck is with the trailer and without the boat. Just leave a form they provide stating your itinerary.
Boat and trailer storage is an interesting one - suggest contacting some of the home storage places, you know where you can rent a lcoked room or park an RV. Are you former military? If so, there are marinas associated with some of the bases up here here you might get a good deal.
As far as staying on the boat, if visiting DC, there are marinas on the Potomac River in DC and nearby in Alexandria, VA. Do not know of thier availability for transients. best to call early. If you do stay on the Potomac, you can get a
As far as a marina on the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis is nice but there are marinas just about everywhere on the bay. Deale, MD might be alot more affordable as well as Rock Hall/Kent Island accross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge from Annapolis.
If you want, email me and we can discuss in more detail.
