I unbolt and use the furler/main to tightly spiral wrap the sail so it cant flap. I suspect Its where forestay failures come from though. A top toggle will lessen the bending there. I don't have one, just go careful.
The mast bounces a lot when trailering so as a lot have done, made a simple crutch, a wood block with a v at the top, hole a the bottom to quick pin to the mast step. Strap through a hole under the V around the mast.
I copied (Dave b's) idea some years back on the kick up rudders. Good idea and been used in anger a few times. I use a bowline though to pull equally on the rudder.
