and a lot of early Mac and Venture owners were aghast. Some people have the need to pontificate and backtrack when the going gets tough.
Moe, your near insane hatred for the M is too well documented to say you haven't insulted the boat with your long winded disertations. You remind me of the moronic Sheriff in Arlo Guthries "Alice's Resturant" with pictures and diagrams with circles and lines describing utter silliness.

We've only sailed the 26M so I can't offer a lot in the way of comparison but I can say that my wife and I are very happy. I've been on board a 26X and it was also very nice. I do wonder if a sink in the head (like the X has) might be nice. My wife and I are average sized humans and sleep in the V berth comfortably.

Phil, I could be wrong, but as far as I know, boats don't have feelings and can't be insulted (offended or hurt). Even if they could, that isn't my intent.

I won't debate the use of "inane" (pointless) but will remind you I've stated my point is to contribute to MacGregor bringing back the COMPLETE X interior with dinette forward and head aft. MacGregor's made one step to get back, they just need to make the other.

Don't confuse being strongly critical of something with "hatred." Someone here already really made a stretch here to call me racist. Let's not imply a critical review is a "hate crime." There's enough of that type of political correctness already.

Finally, I know I saw Alice's Restaurant, but can't remember any of it. They say if you remember the 60's, you weren't there.

Moe, could be the reason you didn't see Alices Restaurant is 'cause it was originally a song on an album, and only later had a movie or "video" made of it... I remember the song, "circles and arrows on the back of each one"of every picture. As i stated before i agree with you, but the M has its charms.... have been concocting a plan to install snaps on the upper edge of the lower liner and put REMOVABLE carpet on the "walls" up to the upper liner, and re-gelcoat the upper liner win a tan or sand color. The look of the M with the ... uh.... adv... uh, well you know.
As for MacGregor going back to the X-style interior, i don't think i would like the whole boat better than the X anyway, so i'm just concentrate on making my X last forever. The Mast or Odin 28 would be the next step up for me, and who knows what else is coming in the next few years to refine the type. Why not let the M guys and gals have a break, "can't we all just get along" lol. Even a blue-hull-M beats anything else, especially floating in an inner-tube for kicks.

Several things that Moe considers negatives of the M are positives, in my opinion. The cockpit is just one example. But that is his opinion.
In my opinion, It's kind of like saying I'm not going to buy a new Harley Davidson until they make one like the one I had with kick start, suicide clutch, and hand-shift on the tank.

After having my 2004 for six months...I love the hull and the cockpit...but I like to modify things...
It really looks like the 's interior is just much more amenable to modifying than the .
I can't drill in any direction without worrying if I am going to go through the hull. Without liners, I am very restricted on running wires...I have to go 20 feet around corners to get to where a run would be 5 feet.

I think that if Roger would go back to his classic interior but keep the present hull...I might want to trade up in a couple of years.

I have just recently looked at Mast 28s (so far I like them) but I have never heard of an Odin 28. What is this beast you speak of?

Odin 820 is the same as a Mast 28. Its the European version. The name was just bastardized
