7/7 update - called this morning to find out what the status was.

The repair facility could not find my work order and had to call me back.

They call back and I am told they were at the boat yesterday and did a few things but could not find the keys.

I had previously told them where the keys were and it was written down in the invoice. So if the keys have since been moved than maybe the dockmaster did something with them . But it still begs the question of "Why didn't the repair shop call me yesterday and ask where the keys are?" I know they have my work number I saw them write it on the invoice.

They are suppose to go back up to the boat this afternoon.

So far no good.

These people sound just like the ones who worked on my outboard. You aren't located anywhere near Edgewater, MD are you? The next excuse will probably be they can't find where they parked your boat. After my dealer called me to pick mine up it took them 2 hours to print out an invoice after I drove an hour to pick up the boat. Maybe we should start posting the names of these clowns.

Is good service the exception? It is impossible to find these days. I'm taking the guy who installed my 115 to small claims.

For what it's worth, I received excellent service from Strout's Point Wharf Co. in Yarmouth, ME on my Honda BF50's tilt/trim hydraulics problem. They were very helpful before I even brought the boat in, and accomplished the repair (no mean feat, from what I understand) within the week. This was during one of their busiest times, when they were splashing a lot of boats that had been in storage for the winter.

They were a bit reluctant to believe that it was the pump motor, but came around to my initial diagnosis fairly quickly.

For the few Mac 26X/M owners in my part of coastal Maine, they seem to be a good bet.

Wow, sounds like you guys ought to write to Honda about these so called "Factory Authorized" dealers. Some of my biking buddies call them "Factory 'stealers'."

Had another question. My MAI (motor angle indicator) does not appear to be working. Is there a connection I should check someplace?

Thanks in advance.

7/7 Early afternoon update. I called the Marina where my boat is slipped and the dockmaster checked and the keys are exactly where they were suppose to be.

So I call the repair facility back and tell them and they say "well we didn't find them". Weird !! I told them that maybe they were not looking at the correct boat but they rattled off its correct location.

They told me that they were about to leave to look at it so I told them to see the dockmaster.

Maybe I should have given them the GPS coordinates also !!!

7/8 Update on My Suzuki 50, Thought I better add that info so people don't get confused on what engine I have been posting about since this is a Honda 50 post.

The repair shop believes my problem was a bad plug. He swapped #1 plug around and the erratic running stayed with the plug so he is pretty sure it is not the computer. He said the plug looked good but it will not fire on any cylinder he puts it in.

He is pretty sure it is not the computer !!!! He will know later today when he puts new plugs in it. But he feels his tests have narrowed it down to a bad plug.

He also told me that Suzuki has put out a service bulletin that the starting battery cables should be nutted down with washers. Suzuki does not approve of "Wing Nuts". Supposedly a loose cable connections emits spikes in the voltage that can take out the computer. "The computer does not have protection built in against spikes"

If the computer is bad after year one it is not covered by the extended warranty !!
Suzuki will not cover any electronic part that goes bad after the first year.

On the other hand Honda will cover the cost of the part but not the labor and the dealer has had Honda honor replacement electrical parts even months after the extended warranty runs out.

Yamaha is similar to Honda as far as warranty but they are getting pickier about replacing Electronic components.

So.. if all goes well I should be back out on the Neuse this weekend !!

Greetings one and all. Hope everyone had an awesome weekend.

Need some help with gauges/warning lights.

Honda BF50 runs great, however motor angle indicator does not work. Also, oil pressure light does not come on. However, dealer mentioned motor will shut off if oil pressure is not sufficient so have not been sweating that one. Is there a plug, connection, switch or other electrical gremlin I've overlooked that would contribute to this?

Thanks in advance,
