Just to set things straight, expressing great pride in yourself through self deprecation is nothing new. If I may resort to my marketing background, here are some examples.

Volkswagen had a very successful series of commercials using the extremely tall Wilt Chamberlain. Those self deprecating commercials basically stated, "No matter how we tried, we could not fit Wilt Chamberlain into a Volkswagen" :D Those ads were a complete success. 8)

The Sunsweet prune company used to advertise what people most dislike about prunes, wrinkles and pits. They said with pride that they got rid of the pits, but the wrinkles were another matter. Another success.

Then there was the Capital One ad where Alec Baldwin was asked if he could play games on his smart phone. His reply, "Just not on the tarmac, believe me!" :) After being thrown off of a flight for ignoring a request from the crew to stop playing games on his phone while the plane he was on was sitting on a tarmac, this was extremely self deprecating, yet successful. :D

Laughing at ourselves is good medicine. A waterbago on a burgee, :D 8) Some of us tell other sailors that we may not win the race, but when it's over, we can get back to the bar the fastest! Well now we could display that we take the bar with us no matter where we go. Who knows? maybe next we can borrow the U.S. Army's theme song and make it ours. "Over hill, over dale, our Mac's hit the dusty trail, and our sailing goes on and on! :D

Okay, so if we are going whimsical self deprecating and ignore trademarks. How about...

Cute. I love the Clorox bottle. Drop the white ball and just plop it on the tartan by itself for better clarity.

You're in good company with the puffin... So far, over 80% want a puffin in some form or another.

This image is based on some research I did for an earlier post - http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v ... =9&t=22263
The MacGregor Tartan is supposed to be the oldest original tartan that came down from Scottish History. It's aptly named "The Rob Roy MacGregor" tartan. After the invasion by the English in the sixteenth century many more variations and clan/tribe tartans became evident. It would seem more relevant, in this case,to have Mr Roger MacGregor identify his particular family's branch of tartan for inclusion in this flag. Sorry, I'm far from an expert and can not identify the burgee background that you've used - though I don't doubt it's still a MacGregor.

I'm all about simple and classy.

It seems all of the boats built by this family are collectively
thought of as "Mac's" ; be it Westwind, Venture, Mac, even Tattos I'll bet.

I would be more in favor of something like:

Just the Tartan Triangle, perhaps with the gold or black trim,
and maybe a big black M in the middle.
Leave it at that.

Simple elegant reverent recognizable.

I think we may be bordering on getting anal-retentive here, folks. Yes, the tartan I chose is a MacGregor tartan. No, it may not be the old and ancient version, but it is indeed a recognized MacGregor plaid.

Initially I designed it with an "M" because MacGregor was the only boat out at the time. However, with the Mac *and* Tattoo lines both being represented here on the forum (yes, we will eventually change the headers on this site, and yes, Heath already owns "tattoosailors.com"), I think it's wise to also include the blue "T" if we're going to put a black "M" on the banner.

As long as you can tell us why they make sense! :) Any particular meaning to those symbols / mascots?
#1 why not we r a great powerful force to be reckoned with our #'s r far greater than any other trl sailor's group ! name another trailerable boat by one manufacturer that has produced the same amount of boats as Roger ! . their maybe other groups out there bigger than our's but they consist of sailing groups with a lot of diff. boat manufacturers

#2 The Scottish red lion rampart is part of the Roger MacGregor & Scottish Tattoo heritage remember the Tattoo name was chosen because of it connection to the Edinburgh Scottish Military Tattoo

#3 http://www.scotlands-enchanting-kingdom ... flags.html

#4 http://www.scotlands-enchanting-kingdom ... f-arms.jpg

#5 http://s844.photobucket.com/user/TheHig ... 6.mp4.html

#6 We r great in # 'S & shall be seen & heard & remembered for the great Mac Clan we r on this site
http://s844.photobucket.com/user/TheHig ... 7.mp4.html

#7 Proudly we sail together as a world group & maybe not the fastest, but strongly we march together shoulder to shoulder on our way to the bar !! or sailing a breast of each other as we test & challenge our skills, & on all the diff. mac meets around the world we all sail together as a great group of true friends & sailors through the fog thick or thin
http://s844.photobucket.com/user/TheHig ... 4.mp4.html

#8 Too all those other sailing groups who think they r so superior to us , well I say we drink a wee dram to them all & they can Kiss our !!!
http://s844.photobucket.com/user/TheHig ... n.mp4.html

I rest my case !

J 8)
PS just trying to offer some good input for discussion , so I hope we can all agree on something that is really good too fly from our boats

OK, OK. We're using the ATLANTIC PUFFIN.

Unless it's on Peaches boat. That burgee gets the Horned Puffin.
