Increasing the lever length from the axle will increase the tongue weight, so you may need to move the Axle to compensate if your tow rig can't handle the additional weight.

...well, this saga ended this weekend with
Harry's rescue trailer back at his house in MA, two weeks late ( sorry Harry)
Catigale on her reworked trailer with 2 foot extra long, extra thick tongue in her driveway
And me getting to spend 10 hours in my turbo volvo teaching my kids to drive stick...priceless!!
Jon Nydham in central MA is a absolutely kicking welder and replaced my bunks, trailer tongue with a heavy 3/8 inch thick box that will last a long, long time.

Still cleaning up the mess from last falls season end.
Today I rebuilt the Fulton 25 trailer jack which served beyond the call of duty as the wheel which took the weight of the broken trailer tongue and let me get the boat out of Westport launch ramp.
