I gotta agree. What started out as a fun idea is turning into something else.
Too many damned cooks, Russ.

On the other hand though Horned really sounds aggressive

I know I am in the minority, but I still enjoy the humor of the Waterbago.

That one I would be proud to fly

OK, so it looks like only 25 people have
voted. I *know* there's a lot more folks than that who visited this forum, but being that it's been several days now I think that's about what we're gonna get.
That being the case, most folks have voted for a puffin of some sort. But that's only 21 people, and let's assume 50% of them are actually willing to *buy* such a burgee, that's probably not enough to make it a reasonable prospect, given the costs involved.
That being said, the impetus for all this was to develop a sticker we could wear while visiting the US Boat Show in Annapolis, MD, so we could all identify each other. To that end, I think that if you guys want to print off the sticker of your choice (puffin, puffin with letters, Waterbago, peaches, whatever!), as long as it has that tartan burgee style I think we'll figure out who's who at the show.
As for the burgee... well... Russ, I'll let you work that one out!
(I'm going to cross-post this in the "New Tattoo" thread)

I see no one voted for just the two letters. Even me, who suggested it.
I'd buy a burgee, FWIW. Puffin, Waterbago, just a tartan, it's all good. As long as it's simple enough to be recognizable for what it is from a distance. And simple enough that the lowest number of colors (to keep costs down) can be used, too.

Seeing I sort of grandfathered this idea on an earlier post I feel a responsibility to add a suggestion of my own instead of just playing with the Winnebago/Puffin thing. Though some may disagree, the Tattoo line still fundamentally represents the MacGregor legacy, and as such doesn't really need an identifier of its own (at least at this point in time) to add to the complexity of the Burgee. Even a plain tartan would be very identifiable from a distance and admirably serve the purpose of identifying a MacGregorSailors membership. Without putting Kevin's nose too far out of joint - I would still dearly like to know Roger's particular tartan to contribute a third version to what I've offered up below.
KISS principle....

Ross, my idea was to make something fun and somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I wasn't trying to be terribly serious and accurate. It was all just supposed to be a bit of fun.
I'll leave you guys to it.
I'm out.

Kevin - Like you said earlier "too many cooks". Discussing it here has become like trying to design something by committee - never works well. At this point A) someone says "this is what I'm doing, if you want one send $...", or B) any MacGregor Tartan as a burgee, make it yourself and put what you want on it, or C) just forget it. It was a good thought and a nice effort, shame it devolved.
