St. Augustine, FL - Memorial Day

Just wanted to put the word out that I will be in St. Augustine at the Conch House on Sunday the 25th. Each Sunday the Conch House Marina, hotel, resort complex hosts Reggae Sunday. The 25th kicks off the season. It promises to be a great time, but then again good music, cold drinks and scantily clad college girls always does. I also can't wait to see the look on peoples faces when the Mac X ties up next to the 120 foot power yachts. I'm sailling down the ICW from Jacksonville. I'll have to motor most of the way, but the river in St. A offers pretty fair sailing. Hope to see some of you NEFL Mac owners out there, look for Untethered, I'll be the only rag hauler down there.

John,

Have you sailed in St. Augustine before? I took my ASA 101/103 course with St. Augustine Sailing. The 4-5 miles to the North of the Vilano Beach Bridge is easily sailable...but there are a few shallow areas. Hopefully you have a chart plotter or chart of that area. About 3-4 miles North of the bridge you will need to stay to the East side...shoal water to the West side...there are channel markers.

And then South of the Vilano bridge be sure to stay to the East side as well. Very shallow on the West side for a mile or so.

There is a public ramp, also just South of the bridge. At low tide that ramp is very, very shallow (like about 18"...but a Mac can do it...but it is not pretty...trust me).

Have fun. I sure wish I was down there. Hopefully you will be sailing sometime between 20 Dec and 1 Jan. Maybe we can get out boats together.

I have never skippered a boat in those waters but my crew that day is fairly experienced. Thank you for the heads up. I'm looking forward to this trip. It has been about 4 weeks since I've been underway and I need my wind fix.
Of course I'll be on the water when you get back. We will definetly meet up. I have been following the thread regarding your trip with Bastonjock, loved the pics.
Stay safe, see you on this side of the pond
