The X cruisers from Rio Rancho NM meet Murrelet at Port Hardy last weekend. George and Ernest had completed a night sail in a gale and were waiting on autopilot renewal before making the 250 mile crossing to the Queen Charlotte Islands. The two X cruisers are operated in tandem with one captain watching the companion vessel as the other captain takes a 2 hour snooze. Both boats are single handled. Auto pilot makes that possible. Murrelet waited at Bull Harbor for three days until gale warnings were down graded and then rounded cape scot. We would certainly like to know about the Queen Charlotte bound sister ships as they were expected to bypass Bull Harbor if wind was southerly and it was. Captains intend to round the Queen Charlottes and then sail the outside (open ocean) all the way to Victoria, completing a Queen/ Vancouver circumnavigation in about 6 weeks from now.
