We have ours hanging on the Rear Mast Support Over the engine. Up, out of the way and always easy to find

What model? Does it have the hoist? I would think you would want the sling ring and line back by the aft starboard (to keep it out of the swinging up seat) life lines and the hoist has to attach to the boom - if you use the hoist be sure you attach the topping lift before you drop the main sail and you might want to use at least a 1/4 or 3/8 line for the topping lift.

I mounted a stainless tube from the rearmost stanchion to the mast carrier arch on both sides (I don't have the extra seats). On the port side I've mounted the barbeque, on the starboard the life-sling, both outboard of the cockpit. No interference with anything, and the bracing makes the mast carrier feel more substantial when climbing up from the stern. Sorry - no pictures, still under winter covers. (Whoops - sorry. I have an M, the original poster an X, so no mast support arch).
