I really like the LED lighting.

Just be careful with propane onboard. I assume all the propane stuff is marine grade and approved.

ally isolation tank with breather, off valves, sniffers and blowers.
gas detectors are a wee bit tricky as they can sense methane and alcohol, so maybe beer and curry nights will have to be in the cockpit

Have you sailed with your hydraulic steering yet? If so how do you like it? I like the idea of placing the ram below and connecting with a cable. What type (brand) of cable did you use and what brand is the hydraulic system?

I can tell you from experience that bug spray will set off the detector too!

Though the 'mac-mess' is daunting , I really like what you're doing with the galley. Teak is so expensive; I have been trying to figure out if I should use limited teak, cherry, walnut or a more affordable oak/pine on interior mods.

I'm collecting teak scraps at an 'affordable' price from a local carpenter. I hope to have enough for a sectional companionway screen hatch by summer time.

Is the wood bulkhead and the counter top a stained plywood which will be trimmed in teak? I can't wait to see your finished galley! Please keep us posted!

I know what you mean about teak. scary innit! I'm doing quite well foraging scraps. I've got a few really nice bits but I'm struggling to cut them incase I find a better place or change my mind.

I'm actually doing the countertop in good old fashioned formica, as with the bulkhead as too much wood makes it a bit dark. However, I have been playing with stained ply and I'm almost considering leaving the bulkhead stained as is... and yes, teak trimms throuhgout. Wait till you see what's happening on the other side of the bukhead...

That's really a clever led-lighting installation.

Looks real nice. Everything done so far adds a lot to the appearance of a Mac cabin.

They're decking lights from B&Q, a national hardware chain here in uk. They're horridly expensive for what they are, but do fit in well. I recovered a few sackloads of seconds from a scrapyard
I've probly got enough spares to sort out another couple of cabins in a similar fashion... and I'm a chandlery slut so if anyone is interested and has any spare tackle I'm always open to a bit of old fashioned bartering & haggling
I used up 288 of the smaller ones doing a night sky in the 'shed' I'm building...http://www.ironengineer.com/ (under the 'light' button)
I also put a few in the transom for dark access as we like to beach alot, very useful, but I fear the ss bevels are of a rather lightweigth chinese ss. A light touch of rust after a season Still, easy enough to replace every few years. Some in the cockpit would be really cool!

Lot's of hard work & planning going on here. I like the lights too, and I'm looking forward to see how your Galley finally turns out. I wonder what new Mac Mods would transpire if you and Highlander ever got together for a few pints & workshop session. That's a really cool 'sky' for your shed! hmmmm Galactica would look good sitting under that sort of ceiling lighting. I can hear my wife now... " you want 300 lights in the barn to do what???! "
