Well I got my boat

so now our adventure begins with towing it from seattle to colorado. started off with a 2 inch ball on our uhaul that was just a smidge over 2 inches which wouldnt let the hitch latch down. Well the problem was solved with a little agressive sanding taking the galvinized coating off the ball which was all it needed the trailer prefers a chrome ball. The trailer and boat are pulling like a dream even though the roads in this state are horrid. Then our gps refused to turn on not good when your trying to leave seattle so after some crazy being lost which we do well i tested all my towing skills in rush hour traffic on less than ideal sized roads, lost and trying to get back on the highway, however all has worked out well and we've been averaging 55 to 60 mph once we got out of seattle, did i say the roads here blow? We stopped in vantage to spend the night the gps doesnt even know the town of vantage exists but it does and they are real nice here the hotel room is clean and the boat and truck are parked right in front of the window. Oh yea we got the GPS working once we got out of seattle you know where we really needed it. Will post more as we go let you guys know how its going. I am really actually pretty impressed with how this trailer is handling was kind of concerned listening to some of the problems some of you have experienced. Finally thank you Cheryl, Ray and especially Todd you guys are great made things as easy as possible for us and we truly appreciate your efforts. I will post more when we stop next. Oh and sorry Mike that we couldnt meet up with you i really wanted to meet you guys and absorb some of you experience from you but Murphy didnt see it that way, thanks again for the invite and if your ever in colorado till july or hawaii till 2013 let us know we will be glad to have you stay with us.

Your just 90 miles north of us on the Columbia River. Probably windy there. Good luck driving home are you coming south thru Tri-Cities WA on highway 240 to get to Oregon and interstate 80 and southeast.

Hmmmmm, lost in Seattle. Yep, been there, done that, don't want to do it again! Made one wrong turn and spent over two hours trying to get back to where I started.
Anyway, congrats on the new boat.

Congrats...
I was lucky and took the ramp correctly out of Seattle. But I was afraid of missing that turn with a big new boat behind me. Glad to hear you survived.
The folks at BWY were great with us as well.
I'm not sure what route you are taking, but if you stay on I90 into Montana you might end up going right past us.
How was Snoqualmie Pass? Just take it slow and easy and you will make it home with your new baby soon.

Congrats...and now the adventure begins

You said you were doing 55-60 mph, don't know it that was due to the roads or just being tentative. But I can tell you, as the dealer told me, with in an hour or two you will be doing 70

That is if the roads will allow it. Getting out of Nashville, in rush hour, caused me some gray hairs, but once on the highway, man you can fly, pulls like a dream

Just realize, now you will definitely catch
Mod Fever. You might not think so, but you will

Hi Tom & Tori! Glad to hear all is going well on the adventure. I was thinking of you last night hoping you made it to Ellensburg before it got too late. Sure wish that you did not have the added challenge of the oversize 2" ball! That may be the weirdest thing I have ever seen on delivery day, sure glad Todd could save the day! Do send pictures and keep in touch! All the best, may see you in Hawaii! Cheryl

Excellent! Congratulations Tom!
What are the specs of your boat? Type/size motor, sail plan, any add-ons?? Post pictures when you get them!
Allan is right, inside of an hour, I was drifting up over 70 mph as she was towing so well. I had to use to cruise control to keep it at 60-65...primarily to be gentle on my elderly tow beast.
What are you towing it with? You didn't sleep in the boat???! gasp
Drive carefully and congrats!
Doug

Day 2 and all is well, keeping her under 70 was a big challenge it does indeed pull like a dream. Im pulling it with a chevy uhaul truck that has a v8 and an empty box on it. My biggest challenge of the day was a driving past all those pristine lakes and past Cabella's. I managed to drive past all the lakes but ended up at cabellas spending money and using up time. We did pull ourselves out of there and and managed to drive to butte Montana found a real decent motel and now we are relaxing. We did buy a Garmin it just decided not to come on till after we finally got out of seattle. Its working fine now. The pass was just wet and foggy nothing to difficult to negotiate Seattle now that was a challenge. I forgot the camera but promise pics when we are out on the water with her have been working on names thru out the trip havnt found that perfect name yet. Specs so the boat is a white hull with black and silver pinstriping that makes it even faster you know. We got the following with it. Stern seats, BBQ, all lines aft, easy reefing main, 105% furling jib, butane cook stove, Dodger, Bimini, new shore power system outlet mounted in the transom, garmin 546s with depth finder, suzuki 4 stroke 70hp with six year warranty. and thats about it. I will say im allready chomping to modify but will hold off just a bit i need to get some other projects finished first but i will start to modify soon enough. Well gonna get to bed headed to Casper tomorrow, then on to Colorado the next day thanks all, Tom.
