I bought a Windex 15 from Davis and a Davis Universal mount hardware.
Do you have more ideas on how to mount it in my 2000 Macgregor 26 X sailboat ?
The top of the mast is occupied by the steam light. And I will also add a top VHF antenna.
On the back top part of the mast is the back stay attachement, and maybe I can use this attachement as the base for the universal mount. I dont know if drilling a hole or attaching a top and under bracket.
Any ideas ?
Thank you

Mine is attached to the top of the mast on an L shaped bracket with two screws attached to the mast itself. I remove it every time the mast is down--takes a little practice to balance standing one foot against the engine and reaching out to the end of the mast. You should take it down while trailering, the thing is pretty fragile. I use a butterfly nut.

Hector,
Similar to March's solution, I used a flat 1 1/2" wide aluminum (from Lowe's) to form two L shaped brackets for each side of the mast bolted using existing halyard block bolt at the top of the mast. In addition, for stability, I pop-riveted a flat piece of the same aluminum to the top angle laying flat across the mast cap. This extends eight (8) inches on each side of the mast. Port and Starboard. This is a very stable mount and does not involve drilling holes in anything important or expensive.
This assembly is now where my VHF antenna, Anchor Light, and Davis Windex are mounted.
If you will PM me, I will send you a picture of the item.

Isn't the light on top of your mast the "anchor light"? The steaming light should be about halfway up the leading edge of your mast.elvatoli wrote: ...The top of the mast is occupied by the steam light. ...
Just my $0.02 worth.
Cheers,
Jim

Yes the top of the mast light is my anchor light, and I have the deck light 3/4 up the mast, I always get confused wich is the steam one.
Thank you

I just use the windex windvane that slides onto my VHF antenna on top of the mast. I also got rid of those stupid orange tag things that were a pain to take off and on when trailering and would blow off when sailing in a hard breeze. Just use the pointer and remember to take it off when trailering I broke 2 of them, one at the dock with the mast down the other on a tree branch.

You might want to check with Blue Water Yachts. I bought an offset bracket from them when I installed a VHF antenna on top of my mast. It attaches to the side of the mast near the top, and allows the windex to clear the antenna. Very simple solution, and not very expensive.
