Second Annual Jax Macs Labor Day Meet Up

Greetings,
For those brave souls who took part in last years adventure this trip needs no introduction. For those board members who've heard the stories and those who dream big this is your chance to become part of North East Florida's sailing history. Imagine this...an armada of MacGregors attacking the historical villages of St. Augustine and Fernandina Beach. A band of cut throats sailing the ICW in search of new lands, cold drinks and the perfect spot to drop the hook and stare at the stars. Last year there was a fleet of five ships. How many pirates, scoundrels, scallywags and buccaneers can we rally this year?
This event puts all others to shame and embodies the reasons you own your boats, don't miss out. We are announcing this early to give all interested a chance to plan. As I have said before Jacksonville offers free boat ramps, free parking, free dockage and some of the best inland and inshore sailing in the Southeast. We will be beaching, camping and sailing on the outside (thats the ocean for you land locked Captains). Port calls and muster points are TBD at this time but the sooner we get a head count the sooner the itinerary becomes concrete. PM me for details and keep you eyes open for updates.

If its alright with you I am going to desginate you the Jax Macs PR guy. You have the technical ability and the website already established to show the rest of the group (visually) what this outing is all about.

I'm in again. And those who missed last year... you shouldn't miss this event. The JaxMacs locals did a fantastic job of introducing us to their fine sailing grounds and beautiful city.

Inquisitor,
Outstanding! I hope you'll be bringing the whole gang again. This year is going to be even better than last year. So far thats 5 boats with one new addition; if C130kings' orders come through that'll make six. Hopefully we'll here from him today.
Stay in touch and I hope to see you at this years Mug race.

The USAF is taking perverse joy at keeping me waiting. The second and final round of Colonel assignments came and went on Wednesday. I am one of a "handful" of Colonels still not matched with an assignment.
The "bad" news: I am on a "short list" of four Colonels being considered for a one year stint to the "War Zone" (and it ain't in 'stan land).
The "good" news: If I don't get selected for that I think I am going to Joint Forces Command in Norfolk.
They told me they would know something in "3-5 Days" ... that was on Wednesday. Still nothing.
This will all be for naught if they don't tell me something soon...my daughter is about ready to explode and that explosion will be in the form of paternal parentacide.
So still waiting...impatiently.
Cheers,
Jim

Sorry to hear about your troubles. There is no need to worry though; if you're sent to the Gulf I'll have Elmer take your boat out. At least this way you are properly represented, after all you are a JaxMacs plank owner

I don't know...
Elmer is a nice guy but he is a "big boat" sailor...I think he just joined your crew last year out of sympathy since you were the only

and thus the slowest boat in our fleet...
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Jim,
Dropped by to check your boat today and the lot was padlocked. The code kiosks were covered with buckets as if OOC. Hang in there for orders, been there, done that! It will all seem miniscule when you finally retire.

I'm in for the second annual JAXMACs event. We need to publish a schedule of events.

Last time I was there those "kiosks" were out of order. You have to enter the combo on the padlock on the chain that is locking the gate and slide it open manually.
Isn't that how you got in there last time?
And just to add to my frustration...and further fuel my daughter's parentacidal tendancies...I was just informed that they should have some information on my assignment in the NEXT TWO WEEKS!!!!
As for JAXMACS we could look at going North this time. If the winds are from the South then we sail outside. If the winds are from the North then motor up the ICW and sail back the next day. Might need your expertise to figure out places to go if we go that direction.
Cheers,
Jim
