Got in touch with the company that built the boarding ladder for our 2000
and ordered a new ladder with an extra rung .
Its the same width , and is suppose to fit the exisiting brackets , in fact it is an exact duplicate of the stock ladder , but has an extra rung to make it easier to climb up from water thats over your head.
Railmakers is charging only $150.00 which is about the going rate for a ladder .
Now if I can figure out some handrails to pull up on it,,,,

PLEASE!! let us know how the replacement installation goes. If you say "it was a piece of cake" then they've just sold another one. Thanks for taking one for the "team".

I use the rudder lines to help haul myself up... not ideal, but works!

Yep thats us too , rudder line on one side , engine cover on the other.
Dave with Railmakers , assured me this ladder will bolt up to the existing mounts .
He said it will be an exact duplicate of the stock ladder , except one step longer .
Mine should be here, probably late next week. I will attempt to post pictures .
If anyone is interested in contacting Railmakers ,if Dave gives his permission (which I am sure He would ) I'll post his e-mail adddress here.

Already contacted him via email and got a reply. I going to make a sketch of what I want him to make, a ladder with a platform attachment, and email it to him. They are quick in getting back to you.

Allan, I wonder if he would make one with wood steps over the stainless rungs? My girlfriend complains about the round rungs hurting the soles of her feet when she climbs up.

She'll never make Admiral by complaining.

Don't know

But it is easy enough to bolt on wooden steps if he would just drill the holes in the stainless, like in the Mac cabin steps (and I
also think they are easier on the feet

) Send him an email he will get right back to you,

I've got reason to thank Railmakers, too, when they shipped me a replacement pushpit rail earlier this year.
But the "extra long" boarding ladder would be a wonderful thing - maybe I'll get one, too.

OK guys, for those of you who are interested, I just got an email reply from Dave Hawley at Railmakers.
"Rob, I do stock the plastic tread material that Catalina Yachts uses. Cost of material and installation would be $125.00. Your ladder would be a total of $275.00, shipping est. $18.00, handling $8.50. Lead time approx. 1 week. Dave". I am going to order the extended ladder with the treads, a little $pendy for a ladder but that should make the not yet Admiral happy

So here it is for anyone who wants something custom made.
dave - "at the site" - railmakers.com
He said my ladder will ship today . Will try to post pictures beforew and after I mount it.

I wonder what kind of deal could be made if we could get 10 or 12 people who would agree to purchase the same item? If the price was right, I would certainly agree to buy one..

extreem, I am in no hurry to order so I can wait, how do we go about getting others to sign on? Make a new thread with title drawing attention to the bulk buy possibility to purchase an extended step ladder with plastic treads? I am sure many of the Mac owners have the same issue with wives, children with tender feet feeling discomfort from the round rungs on the bottom of their feet. Heck, I even think it is a little painful climbing the round SS rungs. Maybe one of the moderators could give us some advice. I will send an email to Railmakers to see if they would be willing to cut us a deal for a bulk buy.

JUst break up that email so it isnt directly recognisable by 'bots'
name (at) node (dot) com
is the best way to do this so everyone knows what it is, except the bots..
