Has any ever ordered from Macgregorsails.com? The prices seem very good and they have a sale until december 31.

I have a 96' 26X and the sails are need of replacement so I am looking around. If you guys have seen any other places to buy good pair of sails please let me know. Thanks.

I notice the standard mains'l is loose footed. I'm sure some would argue that's a good thing, but I would say not. Certainly, the boom doesn't appear to be designed for the loads of a loose footed sail.

The best prices I have seen for Mac sails is from Bill at Boats4sail; I would assume they are the standard Doyle sails. These have come into some criticism from time to time, but I can't say anything either way as I've no experience with other than the standard sails.

Looks like a loft that bought a domain name to capitalize on the number of macs out there. The fact that they don't specify one main for the X and one for the M shows they really don't know mac sails. The two 26' boats require quite different main sails.

Their price for the standard is nothing special, but their preformance one with full battens is as good as any of the upgraded sails I've seen offered by mac dealers.

In any main you will want 2 reef points not just the one giant one like the factory installs. You also want the lower slides on a jack line. I'd want to see information regarding the use of the loose foot sail on our booms as well. It's certainly going to load it differently.

All the years on the forum and I've never even heard of them. I'd be a little leary. I agree with Duane's comments. For my money, I'd still go to cruisingdirect.com.

I just recieved an email from Heath regarding this thread about MacGregorSails.com. I launched the website this fall to try to generate some retail sales for our small boat division.

We've built a few MacGregor sail sets over the years and wanted to expand into it's large base of active users.

I design all of the sails personally and oversee all production in our loft. All of our products are custom built at our loft in San Diego, our staff including myself have come from much larger companies, myself and my right hand man both worked at North Sails, my canvas sewer and handworker(hardware) came with me from Hobie Cat where I was the loft manager and head sailmaker for four years in the late '90's, another of my sailmakers came to work with me after 15 years in the sky-diving business.

I stand behind all of the products we sell, they aren't made overseas like the OEM equipment sold as stock.
