I am just about to buy a second hand Macgreggor 26X from a dealer in the US
On the Macgregor 26 website the width (beam?) is specified as 7'9" a standard shipping container has a door width of 7'8" so How can you get it in to a container?
I tried three shipping companies and they all only have a 7'8" door opening.
It is possible that there are certain containers that are wider or is the Mac 26 only OK for shipping around the US?
Has anyone got any advice to give me to get a Macgregor 26X into the container?
I'm not interested in using any lubricants for this appilcation (water based or otherwise)as I do not want to "insert technical term here" the boat during shipping.
Please let me know your ideas

I have not heard of the problem before. Perhaps a slight tip to the side will solve the dilemma. Where are you located?

Yes that would work, need to rotate the hull on the trailer and adjust the supports

The 26M has the same dimensions and quite a few have imported these with no problems.

Can youthink why the Macgregor website puplishes the width of the 26 as being 1" wider than the standard shipping container?

must be a typo by Laura.

I am not put off bringing in my own boat so I'll soon find out & let you know.

Look up "The Mutt" here on this website. He imported one to down under.

Go with a roll on roll off. You don't need to dismantle (or angle grind) any part of the trailer. It also means you are ready to tow away once the boat arrives rather than having to drag the boat out on it's axles (wheels need to be removed for height clearance).

Macgregor 26X inside shipping container, the hull was not spun, twisted, etc to get in.



The axles and guards had to be removed from the trailer.



And a way to slide the boat while still on the trailer bed had to be made.



If i was doing it again I would ask someone to undo the nuts so the cabin to life line posts could be strung up against the mast, one of ours was cut with an angle grinder.

If the little wheels are still under the trailer you won't need to worry, started to cut mine off and found it too difficult so left them there.

When we were getting prices RORO was bigger $$$ than a container, sorry I don't remember the exact value, from memory it was around half again what the container cost.

I was told the containers cost more because they stack.
