Um...looking at 26D/S boat model...what do you do with all your chain/rode since you don't have an anchor locker? Do you just stow it below in a tub and pull it out when you're going to set the anchor?

Yeah, That's what I do. Have Venture 25. Went down to Restuarant supply store and bought a heavy duty grey plastic bus tub, about 2ft x 3ft x 6in deep. Super tough. Have had the same tubs for 30 years. 300 ftAnchor line and 30 ft chain coil nicely and dry out quickly and Danforth anchor nests perfectly. Have two complete sets. Wired anchor shackle pins with stainless steel wire to prevent pin from backing out and losing ground tackle. Keep it stowed under the V-berth. Also keep gas tank in a tub. Keeps spillage down and tank doesn't slide around. Hope this helps...Fair Winds and Full Sails...Old Salt...

Not sure what the bow arrangement is like on an "S" or "D" model, but I used the empty space in front of the interior liner to collect my anchor rode. My 26D has an anchor holder on the bow rail, on the outer side to help keep it from snagging the jib. The anchor rode (chain and rope) is coiled and hung from the bow rail as well. Its off the deck, out o the way, but in place when you need it.
I will proabably add some type of securing device so it cant bounce out and overboard in rougher water.

We went from tubes on the bow for the anchors to double bow rollers and this old man loves them after putting down 1 and 2 anchors every night for 3 weeks. We were using soft cooler bags for the rodes, but I switched to ones that are soft on the outside, but have the plastic liner and love them also. The plastic keeps the bag spread and open. I can pull the boat to the anchor or have Ruth motor to it in wind and easily just stuff the rode (line and chain) into the bag as I bring it in and never once did it foul going out when putting the anchor down. Fast and easy to do and you can leave the bags open for a while to dry the rode.

I tie the bags to the pulpit and they stay up there all the time, so no carrying anchors or rode which makes it handy and quick. I latch the lids down when sailing so that the chain can spill out and over the side.

You can get these coolers at discount stores for $20 or less. I had considered making a locker below at the bow, but really like what we have now and see no need, at least for now.

I punch holes in the bottoms for drainage and in the sides to tie them to the pulpit an life line. I'll try and get pictures up soon of the new ones, but the old ones are on our site......

We took out last weekend in the rain and left the boat at the storage place on the trailer and drove up to PA where we are now. Won't be back down there until the first part of April and then will pick the boat up and probably trailer it to Flamingo or Dade and put back in.

Maybe something at that time, but we will be heading further south of you. I'll try and post pictures of the ones we are using now soon along with how versatile the bow rollers are with the side chocks on them.

Can't imagine not having an anchor locker .

My previous boat (a MAC 25) even had an anchor locker. Had a chrome metal rode guide that led to a compartment in the point of the V berth. Was outa sight outa mind. Have an M now and it is an external anchor locker which is better in my opinion. You can wash it out and fill it with ice and beer

We are done with the Charlotte area for now and don't know if we will ever get a chance to return there or not. It is over 2200 miles one way for us from Utah. This might be our only Florida trip. Still lots of other places that we would like to see also,
