Need some advice for upcoming Mods

We are planning a late winter trip from the frozen north and are taking our MAC to Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu. I am planning to do a few popular Mods to the boat before we go and need some advice/opinions.

Has anyone tried to install a 'bass boat' style pedestal seat in place of the factory hinged captains seat? I have looked at a few of the Mods that show the swinging seat removed but no pedestals installed.

Where can I buy a 'grab bar' for the front of the steering pedestal?

Where can I buy a replacement male plug for the mast light?

Also we have boated on Lake Mohave in the past on a houseboat so we know the lake somewhat. We have never boated on Lake Havasu so if anyone wants to weigh in on that lake we would appreciate it. :macx:

Thanks in advance for the help.

I have never been on havasu, so can't commet there, but you can find the pedestal guard at http://www.bwyachts.com/web%20catalog%2 ... _guard.htm

Others can comment on your other questions, because I don't have a clue :)

There are 2 types of pedestal guards. The one linked to above is a small loop that mounts to the face of the pedestal. I had it for awhile and it was OK, but I have since replaced it with the larger version with a table. The small loop does not go clear to the floor like those you see with the tables mounted on them. It also is not as wide as the ones that go to the floor.

I got my replacement mast head male plug from Havencraft.

Good luck.

Powersailing also has a less expensive version of the grab bar with or without the table.

Dan, Havencraft is under new ownership, no longer carries parts and hasn't in over two years. The old Havencraft parts division is now Macgregorparts.com. This is all explained on the Havencraft website. Macgregorparts.com still has the best parts catalog on the net, but a lot of folks have bad things to say about them and they can't be recommended.

The male plug for the masthead light is available from West Marine P/N 115016.

I thought about that and even bought the parts. I couldn't figure out a way to really make it work. I thought about how many times I sit from one side of center and felt the pedestal seat would get in the way.

I think this might be the way to go. I covered my boat for the season before I got a chance to do this mod but will be peforming it when the snow is gone:

Bill, I've got the "grab bar" that you see on the BWY web site that I'll sell you! I replaced that bar for the table/grab bar combo. It's yours for $20.00+shipping if you're interested. Terry
