The sheet and centerboard cleats on my 1996

all need some help. The spring loaded parts that grab the line are loose and don't spring back into position properly. If I had to guess I would say some of the bearings are missing.
As far as I know they are the original equipment on an

. Does anyone know what brand of cam cleat that would be and if rebuild kits are available for them?
Thanks,
Eric

Assuming that they are similar to the cam cleats on the

, my advice is: Don't bother. Replace them with Harken 150 cam cleats which have aluminum pawls... much easier to cleat or release under load. Same screw spacing, so they are an easy install.

The Harken 150 cleats are completely rebuildable, if that's what you have. If not, get them. APS sells rebuild kit for the Harken as well as the individual components:

They also have a video showing how to do the rebuild.

The Harken 150 is similar but not what I have. I expect mine are original equipment...whatever that is (anyone know?).
If I can not rebuild what I have then I would like to get something that can be rebuilt, so the Harken 150 looks like it would be a reasonable option.

Given the costs of some of these things, is it worth it to rebuild versus buying new? Just sayin'....

Hello,
Not worth rebuilding the old cleats. They are made of plastic and by now there is a groove that allows the line to sink below the cams and the teeth are worn severely. I have a 95 X and have had to replace them all with better engineered units.
