Lifeline PELICAN HOOK pin gone wild

I went to open my lifeline and the the ring on the pelican hook came off and the pin went flying.....of course it went in the drink.

Does anyone know first what size the hook is on a 2009 26M, and can I just buy the pin and spring or do I have to buy the whole think?

I would think I could make something.

I just had the same thing happen. Could not find the replacement pin kit. Did find the pelican hooks cheap:
http://www.bosunsupplies.com/products2. ... duct=S0162 item S0162-0007 $11.48 each
As soon I as received them, I found some heavier duty key chain rings and replaced the lightweight rings.

Tony, you should have said something yesterday at the marina - I had an extra on board

That is a good price. On the way back to my marina we stopped at Back Creek for a swim and heat up leftovers that's when It broke.
I'll check that link, thanks

Thanks Robert,

I ordered two Pelican Hooks with shipping for the price I would have paid for one at WM.

THe pin and spring kits are available from BWY. From memory they are about 4 or 5 bucks. You can find them on their website

BWY is where I purchased my replacement hook parts. Be certain to get more than one pack. If/when it happens again you will be ready.

Tony I am bummed I missed the Muck-about! I was sick as a dog that weekend. I looked at pics and it looks like you had a blast....Its a shame because it was right in my back yard! Maybe next year..
The week of the 30th we are planning on a 4 stop trip of the bay Rock Hall, Baltimore, Annapolis, St Michaels...Maybe we will see some of you out there!

Mine blew up on returning to the dock. Never saw which direction the parts went after pulling the pin. Put it on the trailer, drove it home. Got up the next morning to power wash the deck. Bingo spring and pin are laying on the cabin roof waiting to be reassembled. Go figure, what luck. No such luck with the track stop. Crew lost another one OB yesterday. They should sell them by the dozen.

This might be slightly off subject, but how are they coming apart?
Mine came apart when the round loop that you pull to open it, snapped. Other than that, how did the others come apart? BWY had all the parts I needed. If you can't find what you want on-line, then call.

These pins have a lightweight wire ring - easy to pull off when releasing the hook. I replaced mine with keychain rings (found a few small enough).
I first tried to silver solder the rings closed but was not successful. On the F-16 ground safety pins, we brazed all the rings shut to prevent loose metal from being ingested into the engine.
