I have a 2001 M26X. Although I haven't had any problems with it, I would like to have someone look it over and fix any problems (as I am not very handy with do-it-yourself projects). I am thinking that a typical boat repair shop will not know how to fix it.

My main concerns are:
1) Centerboard line (Need to replace?)
2) Steering system (Need to lube? It is getting hard to turn.)
3) Gel coat (I have blisters in places)
4) General condition of shrouds, fittings, etc.

I live near Cleveland, OH.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Boat shops can do all of the above. There is a sizable sailing community in Cleveland...you need to connect with the and get some referrals. Don't sweat the blisters....pure cosmetic issue.

In fresh water, it would be very unusual for you to have any rigging problems due to corrosion

Thank you for the advice! I'll look into regular boat shops. I was assuming that they wouldn't understand the MacGregor.

Ditto what Cat said, and No Doubt there are boat shops that work on sailboats in Clevland.... Time to search and net work..

I would be concerned of how many blisters and size of them. Osmosis is a concern even in fresh water were the water penitrates the gelcoat and causes a build up of acids between the gelcoat an laminite.
Take some close up pictures and post them, helps if you had a ruler next to them to indicate size.
I have lots of expearance over 30 years with this problem.
Centerboard line ,you may want to replace with Amsteel or high grade Braided line instead of wire to rope splice.

My 2000x is in the water at Forest City Yacht Club in Cleveland . Where are you located? I've done some work on mine, no expert, but maybe we could look yours over together. Good luck,
