I take it as a Bunk Carpet is some thing you use under the Vberth or aft berth.
You have a M so chusions should be 4 inches were my X has 3 inches.
I put a closed cell 1/2 inch king size with a vapor barrier at bottom on my aft and a 1 inch memory king size on top of chusions.
I did put in a more ridged foam in the 3 inches from Foam Factory.
Sleep just great.
If you are talking about Bunk carpet on Trailers than I get that thru Marine Trader.

I’ve done this in the past, with much smaller boats than a Mac, with success. Just used stainless steel staples from the hardware store in the staple gun, and kept them around the sides, away from the contact surfaces.

IIRC, I even once used non-outdoor carpet and it held up. (Hey- I was just a kid)!

It's only purpose is to prevent scratching the hull and provide a modicum of cushion to distribute the load evenly on the bunks. Anything that does that and lasts will do. Outdoor grade carpet will last the longest.

Russ, I replaced the carpet on my bunks with a cheap outdoor carpet a couple of years ago and it has not held up well (already needs replaced). I just wrapped the carpet on the bunks and as previously suggested useing stapes on the sides of the bunks. No problem with the wrap but the carpet has just fallen apart in this high altitude sun. My boat is in a slip all summer so the carpet/bunks are in the sun all the time. Really think I need to invest in better quality outdoor carpet.

Doh on me! The key piece of information I neglected to include is that I always trailer-launched the boats, so they saw sun only when the boat was in the water. The trailers never sat for any length of time with the boat off the trailer, and the trailer/boats were garage-stored when not in use.

So, in your case, a UV-resistant carpet is what to look for.

On my trailer mod I used trailer bunk carpet and monel staples. I bought the bunk carpet from Bass Pro Shops since it was the lowest price.

Robert B, thanks for the tip on Bass Pro Shops. I visited my local store yesterday and for $18 got enough bunk carpet to do the job.

I bought a small section of standard grey rubber backed outdoor carpet from lowes for a project, never mentioned I have a boat. While pleasantly joking about getting the 12' roll down for "such a huge order she would have to write home about" she said at least I didn't want it cut 100 times. She then explained about once a month she gets an order from the local west marine for 100+ strips, which she has to cut, roll and tape and takes her all morning.

I havn't looked myself, but according to the clerk I met its the exact same stuff without the markup.

Interesting...West Marine website had the same carpet for $35.00. Also checked Wholesale Marine and it was around $30.00. I'm not knowledgeable of carpet grades or quality factors, but I'm sure if you have this knowlege you could find a similar quality at a less generic price. At any rate got mine now and will probably install it today.

Makes sense. I doubt the carpet manufacturers are engineering this stuff specifically for this niche market. The cost to produce would be prohibitive. It's gotta be the same I/O carpet stuff that they sell in the home stores.
