I have a detailed design of a Lotus flower that I want to go with lettering for our boat name (namaste - pronounced "namastay"). Anyone know where I can get lettering and the custom-made graphic. I don't think that boatus makes custom graphics if provided with image.

I go to a local design place that does embroidery for uniforms, posters, large prints ect; but also can vinyl cut and print whatever you want that you can put on a computer screen. Look in your phone book or online for a place that does that kind of stuff. If they don't they probably know who does.

I used BoatNames.net this past spring and was impressed with quality and ease of applying the name and reg numbers to my boat. They even sent me a replacement free of charge when I screwed up applying one of the reg numbers!
The films are quality and are marine grade so that they will last w/o fading.

I believe they also do images if you supply the artwork.

You can also go to a local sign shop. They will have a computerized vinyl cutter and will give you advice on size, location, colour choice, material, digital format etc for your graphic. No shipping charges, and you’ll get exactly what you expect.

With tricky names like yours (the fact that you had to spell the pronunciation for us), be prepared to receive mispronounced hails on the radio.

Try Speedy Signs online. (Sorry, I don't know how to link it)

They have a great online tool to design just what you want in the way of letters and numbers in almost any font/color and many "canned" graphics.
You can play as long as you want to design your masterpiece.
I think they will take your own graphics and do what you want also.
The prices are good and they were fast.

Namaste is a good name! I think it's a pretty common word these days.

I use adobe illustrator to make the designs and take it to Fast Signs to print out. That keeps the cost down to printing only with no design costs. Illustrator is the format that they use so I can just give them a file.

I went to the local, permanent flea market. There was a booth that made decals. I got exactly what I wanted for $65.

I made a rough drawing of what we wanted and took it to a sign shop (sign-a-rama) I believe it is a nationwide chain. They had a person make a couple versions (last Pic) and we came up with the one in the pics.
They classified it as a Logo.
Setup I believe was $125 and 3 (port, starboard and transom) printed "logo's" were $125.
I have to admit it was a little more expensive this way but I am happy with the way it turned out.
The letters are actually white with the colors printed onto the vinyl.
If you are doing this style on a blue hull you may want to address that with the sign maker otherwise I believe you may see a white outline around the edge.
It has held up great for 5 seasons so far and they have the design on file for reprinting if needed and no additional set up fee.
They were relatively easy to put on. If I was to do it again I would go the same route.
I have used the Boat US lettering on another boat and they were adequet but still cost me $125 and the quality was just OK and selection was limited.

I've seen them up close several times, and they look every bit as good as Matt says.
