Yep That's a westerly. Possibly a Mac under sail could beat that. However the westerly could sail over niagra falls and the Mac cannot. They also made a smaller version in that model line as well as larger ones not in that model line that sail better.

From the blog, he rebuilt this boat after a fire using parts from a Macgregor 21, so technically it's a Mac!!

Thanks Rich, i have been lurking the forum, just very little time these days, dang life is in the way again. Besides which i'm still a wanna be with little prospect for the next couple of years, and therefor not much to add. Having said that, i have purchased a toe beast for my existing runabout and(ok, everyone ready i'm going to use the F word...) i grabbed a new F150 with the 3.5 EB motor. Gotta tell ya 'F' is finally building some motors. This thing rips! and that's coming from a died in the wool Dodge guy who used to race a 440 Bee runing about 475 horse. Of course i have it 'chipped' but i don't use the all out max chip setting, it's just too much HP for kicking round town.

The beauty of it is in the torque, at about 2000 rpm it's all in so towing my little tub around is hardly noticable even around town. i'd say my 17 Reinell 140 IO probably weighs in around the same as a loaded Mac say close to 4ooolbs with some gas in the tank, and the F150 really does toe it effortlessly.

The other thing 'F' got right is their microsoft sync which sync's phone(and other) bluetooth, it works, and the voice commands are fairly accurate, i've only had to cus 'Doris" about a half dozen times now which i consider reasonable

And lastly, holy man there's alot of room in the back with the full 4 door truck! one could play a little B ball back there! great for trips with the kid, really convient for shopping and all sorts of errands. With the short box, realtive to a car it's still a bit of a land yacht, it's not too bad to park and zip in and out of traffic(dang old farmers round here lol).

So, not back, just found something i could post and otherwise always lurking a bit.

I'd like to say something about this forum however, i have alot of internet experience, jumping onboard at the outset and i have been to the end of the inet and back many times and been involved in a number of support boards for very worthy causes and none, i mean none! compares to this forum and group of people who share their boating experience here in all forms for the benefit of others, it's truley fabulous. end of comercial, your regular programming may now continue...

A Super Bee with a 440! Wow. In high school my friend has a Super Bee with a 383 AND he also had a GTX with a 440. The GTX had a stick and when he took off real fast I could not move out of the seat. (Made a lot of squeely tire noise too). So you say no to the RAM? (I have had two of them and a Dakota). You would not belive what I use for a tow Veh now.

Yup, no to the Ram, a couple of reasons, the F with the 3.5 twin turbo is just much nicer to drive with the torque curve it has, and all in at very low rpm. overall HP is higher than the Ram and chipped the Ram doesn't stand a chance. @ 100 mph with the chip on wide open this thing is just getting warmed up.

Second, F saw their way through all the 2008 nonsense pretty well on their own and i think they have emerged stronger and with a much better market presence than any of the other makers, particularly Dodge.

I researched the 3.5 pretty good before purchasing and i think they really have built a very good motor. i've been driving turbo beasts for some time now starting way back with Audi 200, Volvo 850T and then also with Jetta TDI and i have alwyas been much happier than with normally aspirated. i think probably that is a personal choice because of my driving habits, i have a tad of a heavy foot, and i really like to come off a stop with some gusto so the turbo motors tend to give much better low end torque curves. The Jetta also suprised me with that little TDI diesel, dang thing goes pretty well and if you have my kind of foot you can abuse it around town with very little fuel cost penalty.

So, bottom line, i had a love afair with Dodge for a long time which gave way to continental cars with turbos and now with F and their turbo'd line. Honorabloe mention should also go to F's 2.0T motor, my associate has one in an Edge or Escape or something beginning with E and it drivers very nice as well.

I fully agree on the F-150 dual high pressure turbo. Bought this after enjoying my main car - Volvo XC70, and my wife's turbo Beetle.

I do not have Ram or Dakota anymore.

I am sticking with my Dodge Ram 2500 with 97000 miles and 2 of the original tires. I don't know about all the other techno stuff but it does what I need it to do and more.

My Sprinter van has 50K miles and still has the original FOUR tires! And they still have a lot of meat!

They are the Michielen LTX tire.
