I'm about to purchase a boat from the folks at Arena in San Rafael, CA. They seem like good people to deal with. Any skeletons in the closet I should know about. Would appreciate feedback good or bad. Thanks hope to see you sailing soon. First Timer.

Nothing Bad that I know.....

Southwind is looking for a West Coast M, so maybe you two could get together and buy two boats from the same dealer and get some type of discount.. There is plenty of room to deal when it comes to the motor, and Bill at boats4sail always seems to be in the dealing mode, so maybe some of there west coast dealers will step up and make a deal on two boats?

The folks at San Rafael are pretty good. I got mine from LA and the people where great. They gave me a better deal than the one in San Rafael. I'm selling my 2004 in the classifieds here. You can check it out and see if it suits your needs.

I can't say enough good about the folks at Arena Yacht Sales.

I bought the Dwen there and they were great guiding me through my first boat purchase.

The Dwen was prepared perfectly. No real problems in the year we've sailed.

Probably more significant to me than some is that whenever I run into Jeff or Dan at a boat show or when I call with some obscure question, they remember me and act like there is nothing more interesting than talking sailing with me.

Listen to their advice. It's practical real world use of the Mac.

We bought ours from Arena about 2 1/2 years ago. Got one of the last X's.

They have always taken the time to answer questions and when I run into them at boat shows they have always rememberd me.
Have had absolutely no problem with the boat that I didn't cause myself.
Very neat installation of options.

Pros:
They taught me some interesting sailing tricks.
They are good at supporting warranty repairs. (only downside for me is that they require you bring the boat to them)
Jeff seems very knowledgable in terms of sailing and rigging and Dan is knowledgable in terms of powerboating.
They throw in a lot of extra little features for the money.
It's rare, but if you're lucky, you'll get to catch them arguing with each other.

Cons:
My boat was not fully prepped as advertised in their literature (They were upfront about this on delivery day)
They put gelcoat cracks on the transom when they mounted the engine (They repaired them almost a year later)
You'll save about $1000 with a So Cal dealer.

I have been extremely happy with my experience at Arena. We purchased Offline from them in April 2002. Over the past three years, I've had occasion to call them with questions. They have always been helpful and provided good advice.

I have absolutely no misgivings about recommending Arena Yacht Sales. Good people.

If you buy your Mac from Dan & Jeff at Arena in San Rafael, you'll be one of us lucky ones that got a lot extra prep, included. I haven't had to call them about anything since our purchase in Nov 2002. I could go on and on about all the good, there isn't any bad.
