Does anyone have suggestions for removing blood stains from sail cloth? In particular the colored spinnaker material. I was thinking of using an oxygen bleach solution.
Years ago I bought some special sail cleaning product that didn't seem to do much of anything. That time it wasn't for blood, just dingy color.

We have a product called gumption out here which I just cleaned some vinyl with and it worked great, did try some sail cleaning material years ago and got the same result you did, zilch.

Try hydrogen peroxide. have never tried in on sails, but works wonders on other types of cloth.

Oh no Joe. The first launch didn't go we'll? How about that OxyClean stuff from on TV? Hopefully it's fish blood. BTW, your FB page pictures are not helping me to cope with my return to the north......lol.

I'd avoid anything with bleach - supposed to be really hard on sail longevity.

That's chlorine bleach. I was wondering if anyone had ever tried oxygen bleach. Does oxygen bleach have an effect on sale longevity?

Sorry about that but That's why I live here. I went out yesterday with temperatures in the low 60s and sunny. I wish someone was on board to take pictures. I was all bundled up with a hooded sweatshirt and a Buff facemask. It reminded me of my days sailing on Lake Erie (except the sunny part).

Yeah, OxyClean is what I am planning on using.

Or you could just leave it and call it war paint.

I race with an owner of a J24 and if he does not get banged up and start bleeding at some point we will not win.

This logic may appear to be a little weird, but it is worth an inquiry.

I use a cleaner called Slimy Grimy for cleaning the green scum on the hull of Nice Aft, and it works great. It claims to work well as an iron oxide (rust) remover. Here is the weird logic, if it works on rust, then it may work on blood, lots of iron in each. Why not make an e-mail inquiry?

Not that I would admit to how I know this, but large amounts of blood can be cleaned up with the following:

Combine 1 cup of ammonia and 1/2 half gallon of water and soak in it overnight. Follow up, if needed, by scrubing it with a soft brush, using a pasty, thick solution of dry laundry detergent and warm water. Let that sit on the stain for about 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.
