Mac 26 Missing from SAIL Magazine article on Pocket Cruisers

Hi, all,
The August 2013 edition of SAIL magazine has an article titled "11 Great Pocket Cruisers".
No where in the article is the Mac 26 ever mentioned.
I agree that all the boats that were profiled are good boats. I particularly like the Hake Seaward 26RK. But they could have left out the 30 footer, which IMO is not a pocket cruiser, and added the Mac 26.
I am wondering if the Mac 26 was left out purposely, and if they don't consider it worthy of mention? I feel somewhat insulted by the omission. Anyone else feel that way?
Roger

I saw that too. My first thought was that the article was written before Tattoo production started and that it only covers boats that are currently produced. I still think that including in the list a 30’ catamaran is a long stretch, pun intended.

Maybe I'll send a nicely crafted letter to SAIL. Should be interesting to see how (or if) they reply.

I saw the article and I was surprised too - I assumed they had a space limitation on how long the article could be.

SAIL magazine is more focused on selling new product (IMHO). They don't know about the 'Tattoo' product yet.

Venture/MacGregor has never received much credit from the "Yachting" (snobs) community. But, Roger has probably produced more quality sailboats of various sizes and descriptions than any other boat builder and allowed more families to enjoy sailing. We have owned since 1970 a V-21, V-222 and V-25. The Mac 25 was inducted into the sailboat hall of fame. When I lived in Cal there must have been a dozen boat builders in Costa Mesa, Islander, Cal, Balboa, Santana, Clipper, etc. Sadly MacGregor was the last to close it's doors. There are not many deepkeeled boats who have been as far south as Ensenada, Mexico and as for north as British Columbia and points in between, which we have done. To the contrary they are sliplocked in a marina somewhere and at the whim of the landlord for slip fees, which last time I check ain't cheap. They don't sail any better, just prettier. I will now get off my soap box. Fair Winds and Full Sails...Old Salt

Back in the 70's when we sailed the Aquarius 23 most of the A21 and A23 owners were in the the North American Sailing Association, (NASA). Two of the members were writers for SAIL magazine. Of those two members one had an A23 and the other had the A21. Both regarded trailerable sailboats as "daysailers" and neither would ever regard any trailerable boat as a "pocket cruiser".
So does the staff at SAIL now include a lot of trailerable boats in their list?? What were the 11 boats??

Sleepers are where it's at. When's the last time you got a ticket, (either on the highway, or in a no wake zone).

Face it fellows... seldom to never will you see a Mac in a Sailing Magazine.. and ... I cannot remember EVER seeing it in a Major Rag..
No One saves money like Roger has on
advertisement $$$
That may have a LOT to do with the absence of Macgregors in all the Majors..
Most often it seems "they" like to group us in with the likes of the entry level Bayliners.. The teaming of those boats with Force Motors tells all you need to know about that story..
