Are there any reasonable places to attach permanent hoist hooks on a 26X? I’ve tried slipping a sling on while the boat is in the water but that just isn’t practical when there is only one hook on the hoist and no good way to keep the straps from pulling together on the bottom of the boat.

Any idea where I could mount permanent attachment points on the deck?

There's really no boat launch ramp anywhere nearby? Where do you live?

In the olden days (before H&S) we used to run a rope around the bow to the front strop to keep it from sliding back, and likewise around the stern to the back strop. Belt and Braces then dictated a rope between the two strops (on each side) to prevent the strops sliding apart, a bit like a cradle. Seen hundreds of boats large and small lifted in like that over the years, and never seen one fail.... Don't forget that spreaders are also a great idea to prevent the crushing effect of the strops if the boat is heavy..

you could use your two hull straps, and a spreader bar , from the front strap to the back strap, to stop them pulling together-
and either the attachment point, centered on the bar- have to be a skookum bar, but probably better to just extend your fore and aft straps up to a central point, that would attach to the hoist, that way your spreader is only under compression load, not the other way where there will be compression and excessive tension loads.

Yea... Youtube is full of sling mishaps. I feel your pain.

But really, no other way to get in the water? I found similar problems round here, till i started actually talking to folk. Lots of places don't advertise their ramps to keep the crab fishermen away. And when they do, they make it pricey.


Dang crab fishermen... Hazard to navigation they is.
