Does anyone have any suggestions of where the best place in Australia is to buy a Genoa for an 'M'. Thanks :macm:

Whilst I'd like to support local business....mass production means a sail out of the US is so much cheaper...I got a new main AND genoa c/w sun protection (HD 2000 material ie better than standard) for less than just the genoa in Australia....can only spend my pennies once

I dont know where Bartmac shops in the USA but I just bought a furler Jib from Evolution sails on the Goldcoast because I couldnt find a Jib in the US that I could get shipped to Australia for better than they quoted me, the sails appear cheap at first but because they are bulky the freight brings them up to similar prices here (plus US$ sucks). A cheap 4 oz Jib in US was $420US and about $100 freight, a heavier 6.3 oz custom built one from Evolution here was $615 delivered to my door, 6 oz ones in the States were actually dearer so shop around but I found local was just as good if not better. I flew my Jib last week for the first time and it is really nice, holds shape well but is still a bit stiff to furl nicely, I guess this will soften with age, otherwise very happy with it. See below.

I was quoted 3 years ago just on $1200 for a 150% Genoa cw sun protection locally made.....main and genoa was just over cw freight from Kelly Hanson US.....only took a couple of weeks....but not sure if KH still operates...seen some negative forum entries. The equation was also swayed by the sale of my main for good dollars to a Gold Coast owner which cover 1/3 of the bill.
Not sure where these sails were made but from what I gather the size of the US market means they are mass produced or at least a number at once....had a sneaky suspicion they were actually made in Asia?
Now looking to modify my jib to a furling set up and be able to run either or.....not both like some mods I've seen.

Thanks, would that be for a furler with U/V strip?

Hi Peter,

No, our genoas don't have a UV strip.
