Has anyone tried one of those KeelGuard's on their mac? The heavy rubber strip that sticks with 3M?
Ive been throwing the idea around as I like to beach my mac at one peticular local lake when I take the kiddos.

It's been discussed many times here on the forum and there are several reports of ownership and results in the past postings. Try going here...

I know this has been discussed before, but I want to ask the question; have you perceived any effect on your boats handling as a result of the keel protection?

I've been using them for twenty years, from my 26M to a 55mph bassboat, no negative effects on handling, they are expensive and you cannot let any part of it rest on a bunk or roller, had to modify front V bunk on 26M as I run a 8-10 footer from boweye to front of dagger board tube.

Ray, how did you modify the V bunk?

Had to have 6 inch gap in center,so just contoured two foot long pieces of laminated 1inch plywood, same amount of bearing surface just riding higher on sides of hull. But this was done in conjunction with addition of longitudinal bunks and second axle, so actual weight bearing surface area to support hull was increased by more than ten times from factory configuration.

Sorry, Ray... I didn't post about the previous discussions to cut off discussion here... only that he'd asked if others had used them and what their opinions were, and as it happens there's a bunch of previous data on that in earlier discussions and I thought that might be a useful starting point.

This is how I modified my V bunk, mind I needed a good excuse to buy a welder and my old V Bunk had rusted and sagged
It is made out of 304 stainless steel plate and rod.

LOL........that was my excuse to buy a little 120v mig for stainless and aluminum also.
