Cheers! New member, and a new Mac 26 owner here. I just bought a Mac 26S that was located in Colorado and transported her to Texas. She has quite a history, moving from New Mexico, to Texas, Colorado, and now back to Texas. She trailered easily with no sway, even at 75mph. The previous owner modified the trailer by moving the axle back 1", and that makes a world of difference. The boat doesn't even tilt backwards when boarding while she is on the trailer.
I am extremely pleased with the purchase since the boat came loaded with goodies and spares that weren't mentioned on the original ad.
I'm taking my time right now, cleaning and inspecting her. Other than road grime and crud from sitting for over 2 years, she is in good shape, surprisingly solid for a boat that was built in 1990.
1 hurdle I went over today was the titling in Texas. Parks and Wildlife are known to be bureaucratic ***holes, and since the motor was never titled, we had some back and forth discussion, but I finally won the day.
Hopefully, she'll be on the water in April!

She's a fine sleek-looking gal, ain't she? There's a reason they call it a "Classic Macgregor." I'm a new Mac owner too (in my case a 2001 26X) tinkering away whenever I can and hoping to also get into the drink in Spring, so have little practical knowledge to offer, unless you count scratching one's head while staring cluelessly at a rat's nest of unlabelled and undiagrammed electrics. Still, I would have recommended a good long look at Sumner's webpages on his 26S for some truly solid experienced info on your model and his impeccably workmanlike mods, but I see he's already got you covered. I think we'd all love to see some more photos, inside and out, and your thoughts on what might need doing as you go along.

Congrats! I am on a parallel path having also purchased a 1990 26S a couple of months ago. I've had mine out about a half dozen times already and love it! I had never been on board one in the water before buying mine and was ready to accept pretty much any caveat in order to gain the trailering benefits, the shallow water benefits, and the low cost. I got all that and in the bargain a boat that is a joy to sail and looks really pretty to boot! You are going to love it!

Nice pictures, Dan. You are right, I need to start taking photo's of my start point. I've already done a couple little things that would have been better with before and after pics.
