We are going to attempt a rather long sail in the new boat as well as spending two nights on her. We will leave Friday from our home, The Steel Magnolia, on Dog River and motor/sail to the mouth of the River. Once in the Mobile Bay we will be under full sail as we turn south (east wind is forecast). We will sail south to Fowl River. Bellingrath Gardens has their opening night for Christmas in Lights...an amazing walking tour; we will tie up at their dock (we have connections!) have dinner there and enjoy the gazillion's of lights. On their opening night they also do a fireworks program at closing time.
Saturday we will sail back out into the Bay, turn south and sail to Dauphin Island. Not sure where we'll end up...but we will overnight there. We'll be enjoying a steak cook on the grill, with sauteed veggies and a bottle of wine. Should be a nice evening.
Sunday we will start EARLY for the LONG sail back home. The winds are forecast out of the east at 13-18. If that holds we will be on a beam reach both coming and going. I'm just hoping it doesn't change and shift more northerly. If so...getting home will be more like a career in sailing.
Hopefully we will have pictures and video of the trip.

That sounds like a perfectly wonderful trip and hope you enjoy yourselves. My wife and I do trips similar to what you are doing every weekend we can get. Please give us an update as soon as you get back.
