Hard to tell if those waves are three feet or thirty feet. Could be either. Impressive either way.

To be honest, I was more concerned being just a mile east of the outer Apostle islands on Lake Superior for 30 minutes in good weather than I was sailing up the Atlantic coast all day and up to 5 -7 miles from shore in good weather. Superior seemed to change quite quickly whilst we sailed among the islands!

I have been working on freighters on the lakes for 16 years, and for a small boat, the short waves on the lakes can be pretty bad, and the weather can change in only a few minutes.
Not saying it is worse or better than the ocean, but sailing on the lakes should not be taken lightly,
I have sailed the seven seas on freighters also and the lakes are serious buissiness.
check the forecast before leaving port.
Great pictures by the way.

Great Action photos of small waves. Looking at the picture of the photographer with his camera and the waves behind him, they appear to be very small. I think a Mac could handle them.

I always thought it was worth noting that on Lake Michigan, a "Small craft advisory" means boats less than 120 feet long.

Yep
It,s believed that one of the reported 50 ft waves broke her back in two , that would be one heck of a roller coaster ride on a Mac :o
