New York, we made it

Chinook and the Jill Kristy made it to New York this afternoon.
As you can tell Mike has a better camera then we do on the Jill Kristy. We have been with Mike and Sandy (Chinook) since the 19th of May as we moved north. We will most likely travel up the Hudson together after about 4 or 5 days in NY city. Then he will keep going to Lake Champlain and we will turn west on the Erie Canal. For the Jill Kristy the trip from Cape May to Atlantic city and from Manasquan Inlet to New York city was a big deal as we traveled in the Atlantic for the first times on our Mac. Going to Atlantic city was 1 to 3 foot swells, 8 sec. wave period on a sunny day and today we had to leave Chinook at a bridge that would not open for an hour and we left them and traveled alone to NY city on 2 to 4 foot waves with a 8 sec wave period, in the rain and low visibility. Still not real comfortable on the big water but we chose the right days. We are anchored where we can see the statue of Liberty in a small basin near a boat ramp. Beats 3.5 to 7 dollars a foot for a marina.
Here is a pic of Jill Kristy crew on starboard, Chinook crew on port and crew of texas mac Seeker on Captains seat.

Welcome to our state...you probably could have waved at the Admiral going over the Verazzano Narrows bridge on business. See you up the mighty Hudson, or Muheakunnuk ( the river that flows both ways) as the Native Americans called it

It's great to be here, and finally some beautiful weather. Got up this morning to a view of the Narrows Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 building. We're eager to explore this great city and state.

You should visit the 9/11 memorial while you're there. I've only seen it from surrounding buildings while they were under construction, and maybe some day I'll actually get down there and see it first hand, but it's supposed to be quite moving. And you're already right there.
I actually found it quite moving even from far above, every time I've seen it.

Where is the mast??? I can't find the mast!!!
When we go there in our camper we stay at Liberty Harbor RV Park on the Jersey side. They have a Marina too for the boats. There is a little goofy "California Style" patio restaurant there too but I would skip the food there and eat at Wonder Bagel on the Jersey side or take the subway over to New York and get a good meal in one of the restaurants in the back alleys off Times Square (where the locals go). Found a great little sports bar hidden back there with incredible food at great prices.
New York is fun, (lots of walking though! made my feet hurt!)

I just did a career day for my wife who's a middle school teacher. There were a lot of cops there - I was thinking of this & chuckling to myself
Had a good time meeting Mike & Sandy in NYC. They've seen more of NY from the water & off than me
Btb, those are great NY & harbor shots... Wow
