2005 26M Daggerboard Trunk

Hello all. Last fall, I pulled the daggerboard on my 2005 26M to replace the up-haul and safety lines, and found either the PO or I had torqued it a bit during a grounding (just a little scrape. a good two hundred yards offshore. Gotta love these prairie lakes). It split the side walls of the board some and crunched the trailing edge. It is definitely repairable with epoxy and a bit of mat, but I obviously don't want to widen the board too much to fit through the trunk slot. Can anybody tell me if the upper trunk hole and the lower one are the same size. There could be an argument in favour of having the lower hole a little smaller or narrower than the upper to seal better. I seem to remember seeing a mod where someone glassed a piece of, I think 1/2" PVC pipe to the trailing edge of the board to give it strength and spread the effort of the force. If that portion will exit the lower hole, I'll have no problem with all I plan to do. At the top, there is lots of extra side to side room on the trailing edge at the top of the trunk to accommodate an extra layer or two of 6 oz cloth. I will crawl under and trace it out, but the clearance and my diameter don't match very well, so that is an event.
