I understand that the table on the X drops down and can be used as a bed. I looked and I see where the aluminum leg can be removed (wing nuts).

I assume the table "drops down" to the level of the seats. I don't see where anything is supporting the table in the middle in the lower configuration.

Am I missing something? Is there a shorter aluminum leg that replaces the longer one?

You are not wrong, there was no middle support as built by MacGregor. I cut the leg off at the appropriate length to act as a support when the table is in the down position and used a smaller diameter tube as a union. I used wing nut bolts to secure the leg when it's in the table position. Just remove the lower section and drop the table. It is solid enough for 2 adults.

As Don T said, there is no center support when lowered. It doesn't need it, IMO. It has relatively deep X-ribbing on the underside. And my 230 lb doesn't flex it enough to hear any cracking sounds, so I'm judging it adequate. I let the admiral sleep on that, as it's lower down, closer to the head, and the compression post aids in sitting up. I use the vee-berth. We both have more room that way, and anything that makes the admiral happy, makes me happy.

I slept on it on my 2002. I am about 210 lb. Not even a hint of bending. Very solid. My son 12 yrs old actually jumped on it from the entrance. Did not brake.

My 2005 has a short aluminum leg with a rubber foot on it for just that purpose.Though we won't likely ever use the dinette for sleeping.

Don't lose it - that's what I thought. Been five years and now I'm thinking about it.

Not to change the post but my rear birth has cheap plastic. When I lay back there (once) I fell through. So I never go there. To hard climbing in and out any way, though the wife does sometimes. But I was thinking plywood or..... ? Don't want nothing heavy. Anone took out the plastic and replaced with ??

Our 96X makes cracking noises without the support especially if the admiral and I are cohabiting the area.
