Neglect your boat and this is what happens

I saw this 26-C for sale on Ebay:

I suspect that mold is in the floatation foam as well as everything else. If anybody needs rigging or a trailer, it might be a good deal.

I'd say, strip her down and power wash her, inside and out with a vinegar solution. The basic hull appears to be in good shape.
....and for only $102 + paperwork fees? A steal for someone wanting a project boat!

I guess it could, but I think you would have to remove and discard all the floatation foam, then spray chlorine bleach into every nook and cranny, then power-wash.

I hope somebody saves her.

Trees, rain and warm weather will do that quickly near the woods.

Thats about how my Mac 22 looked when I picked it up last month. Powerwashed inside / out for couple of hours. Still more de-crapping to do for ballast areas.

Well, I bought it. In a bit of an over-enthusiastic ebay bid moment, I got the news yesterday that I won the bid for $1225. It's a little more than the opening, but I think with a little love, I'll have her looking good in a relatively short time.

I now have to go get it and it's a bit of a long haul, about 650kms or so from Katonah, NY to Ottawa, ON. The boat has been sitting for a few years, but I think (hope, really) that with some fresh grease in the wheel bearings, we should be ok. I'll also have a spare tire with me and may just grab a new set of tires on the way home.

Anyway, wish me luck.

The clean up has begun. The boat is in fair shape. The exterior is pretty good, now that it's been given a once over with the powerwasher. The interior is pretty rough yet. The laminated covers are mostly toast, the PO had also put in a few teak shelves and things, they all need to be refreshed. The wiring is a bit of a mess, but can probably be salvaged, in part anyway.

here are a couple of pics of the exterior, before the wash:

and after the wash:

The exterior is pretty good, not too many big gouges and scratches. The interior is alot of this:

Needs a thorough cleaning to start to get the mildew and mould out. The PO put in a few speakers and a stereo, there's also some shore power, and it did have a depth sounder and perhaps a gps unit, but all that's left are the sounders mounted on the under side of the hull and wiring. There are a few leaks, there's a spot the PO created to store some rode near the bow, but it leaks pretty badly. I'll have to try and figure out where the other leaks are, which is always fun.
