Mac-less

New owner drove off with our M this morning. Sad to see her go but entering a new chapter. Still a strong Mac supporter and would love to have kept going with it but the larger family requires a larger boat, especially with our future cruising plans. I will hopefully post some pics of our new boat next week if the survey goes well. I'm certain the new owner will post here as soon as he gets home and I have informed him about the BC Mac club and the benefits that come with it, so he'll be looking for more info I'm sure.

Glad to hear it went to a good home. Hopefully you'll stick around, though...

How could I not?
I'm going to keep my eyes open in the upcoming years for an older S or D barebones strictly for messing around at the lake, but for now I have to get the survey complete and get it ready to bring it north in the spring.

One cant be Macless, did one consider a MAc 65, that would of had room for the growing family

I know they say there are two happy days etc etc, but it wasn't. It was hard to let her go buy she's off to a good home.

Hi Bob,
I'm very curious to know which larger vessel you're getting...
Will you need crew for the trip north?

For sure, but that list is growing extremely fast already and I haven't even had the survey done! I'm not saying what or which it is until I've got it. Don't want to jinx it but when the deals done I'll be glad to show it off.

You can't go, the plants will die.
Can't wait to hear your next chapter. You have been a great contributor.

To give a hint and start an interesting topic (aka full blown argument

) on people's ideal boat. Our wish list was as follows:
Blue water / extended cruising capabilities
Sea Kindliness over speed
Higher wind capabilities under sail with more sail plan options
Good tracking ability, especially in following seas
Classic extra salty lines
Not so big it becomes a chore to get out on the water (a little subjective)
Well that should narrow it down a bit.

You're getting another Mac! Right?

If Rodger made a mid 30's I'd be all over it. Kind of a big jump from 26 to 65

The problem I have is every boat I get on now I compare to the Mac and nothing comes even close to ticking the number of boxes my X does for my useage .
Some may sail slightly better, but they dont have the room in the cabin or cockpit
Some may be more blue water friendly but you cant put them on a trailer
Some may have more room inside, but I cant load them up, drive 200 miles and drop the in the water at another spot
None of them motor better or faster
Sure she isnt perfect but their is no perfect boat, only the one with the fewest compromises for how you want to use it
