I saw these several days ago and thought the exact same thing. You could also use the excess water to wash down the boat if the trip is over.

It's a bit pricey, but you might consider a Zodi shower instead. It can be heated on your stove and makes a very nice warm shower, and it can also be used for just wash-down purposes, too. We have had one on our boat for years and it works great. An early morning hot shower off the back of the boat is not to be beat.

Just bought the 16 gal version from Northern Tool for $109. On sale and coupon. (There are coupons on their website, $10 off $50 purchase, $20 off $100 purchase.
I think it should fit under the v berth with flotation removed. Fingers crossed. Will know next week when I get to the boat.

I just looked for one at Harbor Freight (fortunate enough to have one just down the road)... it's a 15 gallon capacity. Does anyone have an opinion on adding 125lbs. to the bow compartment?

I'll go by the store tomorrow and get some measurements.

It is not uncommon for a thirty gallon water bladder to be installed in the area under the bow berth. 120 lbs vs 240 lbs., I think your safe.

250lbs may be OK when the bladder is full but at less than full thats a lot of weight sloshing around side to side, while it would be sitting low in the boat I would think it would effect stability somewhat

I had the same concerns when it was installed in my twelve years ago. The bladder collapses as the water is removed. It's not like the solid ballast compartment where a partially filled tank has water sloshing around every which way. It's much more constrained.

Conceivably, one could have partial fuel, porta potty, and freshwater tanks that together equal 120 lbs of weight sloshing about. How much could these combined sources affect stability?

It gives a little bit better weight to punch through the chop and helps keeps the nose down under power. 16 Gallons is only about 60kg or 132 pounds down low below or at the waterline so has much less effect than the admiral wandering around down below

That's what I would suspect. Remember that the tanks are different sizes and shapes, so whatever is sloshing doesn't all slosh in a synchronized manner. And compared to the weight of the boat, it's a drop in the bilge.
