Swimming deck, or platform?

The Admiral is in overall very happy with the boat (especially regarding the cabin space) though she told me two things could be better: firstly that she felt pretty far from the water and couldn’t just lazily dip her fingers when the sailing was quiet, secondly that Macgregors don’t have a swim deck.

Of course it is just impossible to be very close to the water on any sailboat that size… But I am curious about what solutions exist out there for a swim platform? What are you guys using when it is time for a dip?

I too have been thinking about a swim deck for some time now.... Not easy because there are many things that occupy the stern that move around ...
Outboard - Left / Right / Up / Down
Rudders - Left / Right / Up / Down
Kicker motor - Positioning TBA

There are one or two designs in the Mods section but I'm looking for something better.

I just use the generic swim ladder with small platform you can buy at any marine store...

Think outside the box a bit, use either side instead of the stern.

I was wondering about using the side too, with a boarding ladder like that https://www.westmarine.com/buy/garelick ... ecordNum=4 and a sort of floating platform. Not very fancy, but doing the job.

Another solution I have in mind would be a sort of platform suspended on the side, a few inches above the water. It would lay on the hull with a soft protection and be attached somehow... Maybe on the winch and on the sail track in the cockpit?

Been thinking about this for a while, the X is very crowded back there.
going over the side gives a tall gunwale.
have kept the following in my ebay list.

Pretty much what I have. Kids (10/12) slide their bottoms onto the bottom rung, then stand up. Seems to work well. 8)

And this at the bottom

I'm really looking for a proper platform that extends to the back of the OB. A kinda deck extension that makes a good swim-out platform and an easy stern step-off at a marina....That's what motivates me ... Otherwise I may as well just step down using the OB Cavitation plate ... no big deal to me 8)

I've seen one platform that was huge and had a 4 burner BBQ (at bench height) on one side ... Overkill for me but does anyone have that photo?

Not quite a swim-out but this is one I admire...

The x has a little more to contend with than the M as far as linkage, but a little more room at the stern. Here are some ideas I just found online.
