We were flooded off the upper Mississippi for the entire year with the exception of Aug. We have 65mi. of river which is unique in that it is the only stretch of river with a set of dual locks #15 and separate recreational locks #14. So you almost never wait for commercial barge traffic. Then again it didn't matter as we were either at flood or near flood the entire boating season. Sailing up hill was impossible due to high current. I doubt if this year will be any different. This year we will plan to add travel to the schedule. Lake of the Woods and Midwest reservoirs.

Our inland reservoir was forced to hold flood waters last summer to protect downstream interests. By the first week in July, we were 12' above normal. One more rain raised the level to the point that docks in the marina could not be secured to the lake bed,so we had to pull our Mac out for two months.

To allow continued sailing, we bought a lateen-rigged dinghy:

And YTD, we are 5 feet above this date last year. I wonder what the future holds...

Forgive me for hijacking this thread, but the sudden video of the Starwind 13.5 made me reminisce of my first boat, a Howemar Phantom. Bought her in 1979, still have her, but have not sailed her in three years.

But Ray, I support you holding on to that boat. In fact, I let go of one boat when I bought our Mac 26S, and have regretted it. My new motto is "Keep 'em all, and build a fleet."
