Flaunt Your Boat's Home
Re: Flaunt Your Boat's Home
I think that for big homeowners that won't be a big deal where to store the boat. You can keep a boat in your yard. And people do this, but most people don't have the yard for it. I have a friend who has a beautiful yard. He has a lovely garden. He has a beautiful patio. He has two sheds. Then last year, he put in his boat. The yard is so big. He could do it. He built the house in 2019 with the help of the guys from boutiquehomeplans.com. They designed the house in a significant way and left a lot of free space outside. I think that this was the best idea.

Hi JimmyT!
We’re envious!
Having your boat in a nice warm dry basement is a luxury we can only imagine!
Down South in SC we had a nice concrete pad cast alongside the garage. It already had water outlet and electrical hookups on the side of the garage. We added a septic drain line to the far corner of the pad when we had the septic field replaced in late 2020 so dumping the Portalet is much more manageable. But being outside ‘everything’ down here gets coated with thick pine pollen, pine needles and that ubiquitous southern surface scum. I never thought that regular frequent leaf blowing and pressure washing was going to be a basic boat maintenance chore!
BTW: How does Gibbs get the boats out of his basement???
Best Regards

Up North in NH we have to cobble together a pair of differential height ramps over the double sloped side yard just to have it ‘somewhat’ level. It’s like threading a pair needles with one eye closed and using a mirror to back it on!

Re: Flaunt Your Boat's Home
That spare (Phantom Sport Sailboat) of mine has come in handy.
We purchased it in 1979, and sailed regularly up at the lake until 2005, when we bought Nice Aft. For 15 years we brought the M up to Lake George. For the last two years, we have not been able to find a slip for the two weeks up there. No tears here. We just brought up the spare. One just can’t really appreciate the beauty of that lake without a boat.

1979-early eighties? (I just don’t remember the exact date)
