Thanks. I remember that thread (now that you posted the link). Glad he made it ok. Looked like a pretty nice trip over.

That was a fun 20 minute diversion. Kudos to Dr. Marco and his trusty mac Dog Years for taking us along on his little adventure.
A couple of observations from his video:
He spent almost two weeks in No Name Harbor waiting for a favorable weather window to make the crossing.
He spent another four days in Bimini waiting for a favorable weather window for his passage to Grand Bahama.
For those of us that are still working, our vacation time would have been over before we ever got the chance to cross the gulf stream.
I would love to take my mac to the Bahamas one day, but it will probably have to wait another seven years until I retire.
My family and I spent the first week of April in Eleuthera, Bahamas. I had a fantastic time scuba diving with my two kids in their crystal clear waters. We did a captained sailing charter on our last full day there. The captain told me that he has seen many MacGregor sailboats cruising in the Bahamas. Unfortunately, it is not cheap over there. I paid $55 for a case of Kalik beer. The food and lodgings were about 2X what I would have expected, and the options were very limited. I did not see a single Amazon van. Unless you are a minimalist I would not suggest relocating to Eleuthera.
