Rudder cleats

My 1995 :macx: came with cam cleats for the rudders and that was a problem when in shallow water and an occasional grounding . So I replaced them with jam cleats that I drilled out the underside of the cleat the same size of the rope to allow the rope to release when ground is struck. I will try these out this weekend. 5 hour repair because new access ports had to be installed to get inside of the transom.

Not entirely sure what I'm looking at in those pics. One looks like a pic of the backstay.

Interesting mod, I need one like this, but could your please explain this:

So far I don't see how vertical pull on either of the ropes would release it from the clam cleat :?
