What’s good about hinged mast step?

Does it just make it easier to lower and raise the mast? 26s btw

Yes, that is the purpose behind its design.

Sorry for replying to an old thread... but some more information would be superhelpful for those of us who are working our way down the threads...
Can you explain how the hinged mast step makes mast raising easier than the stock bolt thru the bottom? How does moving the pivot 2 or 3 inches at the bottom of a 20' pole make a difference on the 26s?
I am a new owner of a 26s (and of course am looking up every cool and shinny mod possible), but am not getting the reasoning behind the hinged step aside from it fixing a corroded out / warn out pivot hole (which I have)?
