Jackplate on a M19?

Post by me262 »

I have the original tohatsu 40 motor on my M19. Thinking about hooking up a tilt and trim and a jack plate. Anyone else done this? I sail in pretty skinny water sometimes. Thinking this might be a good improvement...

When I upgraded the motor to the 4stroke 40hp Mercury Command Thrust I added a manual jackplate that gave it a 10" setback. I needed this so the motor (which has tilt and trim) would clear the rudder linkage when tilting. Newer 4 stroke motors are taller and heavier than the older 2 strokes. Moving the motor back like that also improved my ability to get up on plane quickly.
