How hard on bottom paint is beaching? I have a new bottom job and want to keep it intact as much as possible. Thanks!

Depends somewhat on the type of bottom paint you used.

In any case, it’s like running your bottom onto a sheet of 60 grit sand paper and letting it rub on that (due to each wave or boat wake) for the duration of your beaching.

Better to put out a bow anchor and back in to just off the beach using a stern tie or anchor. But keep it floating.

If you’re really lucky, there will be a sharp shell, piece of concrete, board with a nail, etc hiding just below the sand when you beach.

I like to keep my boat in good condition. So, others may have different opinions.

Beaching on sand is going to remove paint. Beaching on harder stuff will remove lots of paint.

When we stop to take a quick walk, we beach bow in. When we plan to stay a while, we drop the anchor off the bow and tie the stern to shore. We've had the boat for 8 years, the bottom paint was on it when we bought it, and we don't have much left on the bow. This area can be touched up when the boat is on the trailer.

The other area where the bottom paint is gone is around the wheels. I'm thinking of adding some skirts.

Skirts; I never thought of those.
