SailTimer Wind Instrument & Apps

I've been looking at wind instruments. I consider it unnecessary for my day sailing farting around but I'm hoping to do some weeklong trips in the San Juans this year. I'll probably stick with phone/tablet-based navigation and they offer a nifty app for that too.

Does anyone have experience with the SailTimer wind instruments? They look like a perfect match for trailer sailing, low-cost, designed to work with app-based navigation and for you M owners, it works on a rotating mast.

I'm also looking at their navigation app. The cool thing about it, other than interfacing with the wind instrument, is that you generate polars for your boat based upon measurements directly from your boat, not upon some generic general boat set-up. The app also calculates optional tacking to generate route data based upon those polars, your wind data, and crowd-sourced wind data.

Looks like a well-designed system. Very smart to make it wireless, and the app looks very smart as well. The price seems reasonable as well. Not something I need at the time as 99% of my sailing is on our small local lake, but seems like it would be a real boon for those who want an instrument and chart plotter that leverages the power of modern electronics and computation.

Just received my SailTimer a week ago I had brought the SailLink last year but the SailTimer had a month or more wait. So just happened to check last week and when I saw it was available and on sale too I ordered one. Unable to wait to get to the boat I put it on the roof :D for testing. Downloaded the apps for IOS and for an old Samsung. While sailing I will use the Raymarine MFD. At anchor the Samsung would be nice for those windy stormy nights. Android the app SailTimer WG (Wind Gauge) not available for IOS.
It will work with the rotating 26M mast others won't or needs a Mast Sensor to get correct readings. And others cost twice as much.

Cool beans..... keep us updated. I bought one of the Samsung tablets that I'm going to use for work, play, and navigation. I was going to put one of the affordable Bluetooth speakers in the cockpit with me and play with their Alexa verbal toys too. I'll mount the tablet on a temporary holder on the bulkhead. It is IP68 rated so it can get drenched without consequence.
